As the province of Antwerp we want creating space for agriculture. We do this through local authorities and farmers instruments to be provided for agricultural redevelopment, zoning-inappropriate reuse and demolition. In this way, we ensure better access to agricultural land for farmers. We are developing a policy on public agricultural land. The province of Antwerp has two practical centres that focus on practical research in the animal sector: the Poultry Farming Experimental Farm and Hooibeekhoeve.
The Poultry Farming Research Centre is committed to future-oriented poultry farming through practical research on laying hens and broilers and through knowledge exchange. As a reference center for practical research, they play a key role in Belgium and beyond.
Hooibeekhoeve strives for future-oriented dairy farming through practical research and targeted knowledge sharing. As a meeting and demonstration center for professional and aspiring dairy farmers, they offer customized information, from study days and field trials to thematic exchanges.
